After moving back to Iowa, she made a hobby of building doll houses from kits and sold most of them by word of mouth. She continued this hobby until 2010. Charlotte also collected angels. Over the years, she was always on the go with her friends. Every other Wednesday afternoon the Arcadia ladies would play Rummikub - sometimes as many as seven at the table. Everyone that knew her was aware that she ‘had her own ways’ about most things. Also, her friends were very aware that she was a Chicago Cubs fan. She was a life-long member of St. John’s Parish, Guild and choir as well as the American Legion Auxiliary in Arcadia. Charlotte was a regular at weekday masses and would lead the rosary on many mornings.
When her memory started to fail, Charlotte moved to Sunnybrook assisted living in Carroll in 2013. The next year she entered St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll where she died on Monday, August 14, 2017 at the age of 87 years and 14 days.
Preceding her in death are her parents; brothers Clarence Schweers (Teresa ‘Babe’), Joseph Schweers (Ethel), Leo Schweers (Mary Frances), Vincent Schweers (Helen), Arthur Schweers (Mabel), Albin Schweers and sisters Viola Lampman (Edward), Marcella Berger (Albert ‘Buddy’) and Alice Boes.
She is survived by her brother Robert Schweers (Velma) of Carroll; sister in law Adrienne Schweers of Kansas City; brother in law Earl Boes of Carroll; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
