Convocation for the priests of the Diocese: This coming week, from Monday to Wednesday,
all the active priests of the diocese are required (and the retired priests are invited) to attend a three-day convocation sponsored by the Diocese of Sioux City. This event takes place every three years, and is a form of continuing education for the priests. This year’s theme focuses on developing and strengthening our preaching skills. (Pray that we are attentive and learn much!) While the priests are at the convocation, most of the daily masses held throughout the county must be cancelled. However, there
will be 7:00 a.m. Mass on Tuesday and Wednesday at St. Lawrence in Carroll. There are a few of the retired priests who have agreed to stay in town and be available for these masses and for any emergency circumstances. Please call the parish office at St. Lawrence or Holy Spirit if assistance is needed.
Confirmation Candidates: This weekend, all of the parishes are celebrating the Rite of Acknowledgement with our Confirmation candidates. This serves as an opportunity for the candidates to formally be recognized by their parishes as they have begun their preparation for this sacrament. The candidates receive a cross to wear around their neck as a sign that they are now
formally preparing to receive this sacrament next year. Please continue to keep them in your daily prayers, asking that they discover more and more each day the vocation that they have from God as young adult men and women in the Church.
