This weekend, the six priests complete the first rotation through these thirteen parishes of Carroll County. It has been an honor and a pleasure to meet so many of you, and have opportunity to celebrate with the various faith communities. We continue to be very warmly and graciously received by everyone. We are grateful for that! Again, we ask that you be patient with us as we learn the rhythms of each site, and as we try to remember names and faces.
Next weekend, we will begin the second rotation through the parishes, but there will be a modification in how the rotation takes place. Now the priest who has residence in a particular site/cluster will be back in that “home” site/cluster every three weeks. This should help both the priest and the people of those “home” parishes feel more connected with each other. During the intervening two weeks, one of the other priests of the team will visit the “home” site(s) for those two weeks in a row. Thus, we as priests will continue to ensure that we are connecting with all of the parishes throughout the county.
Peace. Fr. Kevin
For the final week, we continue giving each priest on the team an opportunity to provide some background about himself. This week is Fr. Brian Feller:
I was born and raised in Sibley, Iowa (35 miles west of Okoboji, IA), the youngest of four children to Joe and Jane Feller. Mom and dad still reside in Sibley and my siblings are all married, living in Minnesota, Georgia, and Texas. I am a proud uncle of six nieces (so far!). We lived a block and half from St. Andrew’s Church and went to Mass as a family mostly on Sunday mornings, along with Thursday night religious ed.
I attended Kindergarten through 12
th grade at Sibley-Ocheyedan schools in Sibley. I loved playing with Legos, capture the flag, all sports (football was my favorite), being active in the bands, choirs, and speech, and other school activities. Pick-up games throughout the summer was a staple. I studied engineering at Iowa State University for one year before transferring to college seminary at the University of St. Thomas. I discerned out of the seminary after two years, finished a degree, and worked at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Storm Lake and at O’Gorman Catholic Schools in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. God then led me back to seminary formation and I was sent to St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Denver, Colorado for five years. Ordained a priest in 2015, I covered the parochial vicar role at Cathedral for 7-8 weeks and have been at St. Lawrence, Holy Family, and Kuemper Catholic for the past two years as parochial vicar and chaplain.
