Alice Schroeder, 92 of Arcadia, died early Friday morning, November 6, 2020, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at St. John Catholic Church in Arcadia. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Pick. Music will be by Sharon Bierl. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Kristen Ernsperger and Hollie Schroeder. Casket Bearers will be Kevin Berg, Bo Berns, Dennis Ernsperger, Doug Schutte, Michael Schroeder, and Jacob Schroeder. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery in Arcadia.
Those attending the Funeral Mass are required to abide by Covid-19 social distancing guidelines and face coverings are required.
The daughter of George and Catherine (Zitzlsperger) Bayer, Alice was born in rural Willey, Iowa on March 7, 1928. She attended St. Mary’s School in Willey and later graduated from St. Angela Academy in Carroll. On January 21, 1956, Alice was united in marriage to John Schroeder at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Willey. The couple made their home in Arcadia. Alice was employed with the Daily Times Herald and then worked for Robert S. Morrow accounting firm. She later worked in the Treasurer’s office at the Carroll County Courthouse and partnered in Arcadia Insurance Company until her retirement.
Alice enjoyed crocheting and cheering for the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. She loved spending time with her sister Margaret; the two could often be found together at area casinos. Alice was a member of St. John Parish in Arcadia and the Arcadia Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her sister Margaret Bayer of Carroll; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Lawrence Schroeder of Vail, Bruce “Tom” Schroeder of Vail, Barb Wiegand of Austin, TX and Doreen Schroeder of Coon Rapids; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Alice was preceded by her parents, George and Catherine Bayer; her husband John Schroeder in 2012, and a sister in infancy.
