Bernice Catherine Irlmeier, age 94, of Templeton, IA, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by her family.
A private funeral service will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 with Fr. Steven Brodersen officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Templeton. Casket bearers will be Bernice’s grandchildren.

Bernice was born on February 10, 1926 on her family’s farm near Roselle, IA, she was the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Haberl) Steffes. She grew up on the farm and attended Holy Angels Catholic School as a girl. She raised her family in Templeton and worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Anthony Hospital and then the Manning Hospital for many years. Bernice was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Templeton. Bernice also volunteered with the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary for many years.
Bernice is survived by her children and families: Randy Irlmeier (Janice) of Charleston, SC, Beverly Sporrer of Templeton, Gloria Anthony (Wilson Griffin) of Charleston, SC, Rhonda Schwaller (Dave) of Templeton; a daughter-in-law Betty Klocke (Tom) of Coon Rapids; thirteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a sister Colette “Tootie” Wernimont of Storm Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Josephine Steffes; a son Gary Irlmeier and his wife Joyce; five sisters: Irene Ertz, Betty Wittrock, Florence Kokenge, Hilda Schroeder, and Lucille Galloway; two brothers Lawrence and Norbert Steffes; and two sons-in-law Cletus Sporrer and Jerry Anthony.
