Kenneth Bauer, 75 of Arcadia, died Saturday, November 12, 2022, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at St. John Catholic Church in Arcadia. The Celebrant will be Fr. Terry Roder. Concelebrant will be Fr. Richard Remmes. Music will be by Sharon Bierl and the St. John Choir. Lector for the Funeral Mass will be Judy Bauer. Gift Bearers will be Brittany Bauer, Austin Bauer, and Owen Bauer. Casket Bearers will be Kyle Bauer, Alex Bauer, Dylon Bauer, Evan Bauer, Aiden Bauer, Cody Bauer, Randy Bauer. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery in Arcadia.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., Tuesday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. A Christian Wake Service will be at 7 p.m. There will be no visitation on Wednesday at the church. Born on March 24, 1947, in Willey, Iowa, Kenneth was the son of Herman and Alita (Stangl) Bauer. He grew up south of Willey, attended grade school at St. Mary’s in Willey, later graduating from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1965. After high school Kenny worked for Heider Manufacturing and helped his father on the farm.
On September 6, 1969, Kenny was united in marriage to Diane Becker at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The couple made their home in Dedham where they raised their 8 sons before moving to Arcadia where they have resided for the past 37 years. Kenny was employed at Heider Manufacturing, St. Joseph’s School in Dedham, Quandt Auto Salvage, and Carroll Community Schools until his retirement. In retirement he worked for Vonnahme & Son’s as well as helping Dave Staiert with his farm operation until his illness.
Kenny enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cutting iron, watching country westerns on television, and going on tractor drives.
Kenny is survived by his wife Diane of Arcadia; his sons: William of Arcadia, Brian of Carroll, Robert (Jenny) of Mt. Carmel, Benjamin of Carroll, Michael of Carroll, Barry (Misty) of Chariton, Kelly (Heather) of Carroll and Keith (Stacy) of Carroll; 31 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; his siblings: Lois Beyerink of Carroll, Diane (Dan) Seidl of Coon Rapids, and Duane (Cindy) Bauer of Dedham; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Judy Bauer of Emmetsburg, Mary (Bill) Breidinger of Ames, Doris Kinkade of Templeton, Marg (John) Riesberg of Carroll, Donna (Bob) Riesberg of Arcadia, Jim Becker of Waterloo, Joe Becker of Coon Rapids, and Bill Becker of Paton; as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Elon Bauer; his great-granddaughter, Braelynn Bauer; brothers: Marlin Bauer, Dennis (Judy) Bauer, and Jim Bauer; parents-in-law, Joe and Rita Becker; sisters-in-law, Bonita Birch, and Lois (Carroll) Cole; brother-in-law, Ralph Beyerink; nephews: John Birch, Darrin Riesberg and Jeremy Bauer.
