Leon Starman, age 71, of Roselle, died Monday, December 17, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Roselle. The Celebrant will be Fr. Steve Brodersen. Mass servers will be Grant Sibenaller and Logan Sibenaller. Music will be by Sue Feilmeier and the Holy Angels Choir. Lector for the funeral mass will be Lisa Wieland. Gift Bearers will be: Jan Starman, Jeanna Beeber, Jill Hedman, Chris Klocke and Diane Pudenz. Eucharistic Minister will be Tom Simons. Honorary Casket Bearers will be: Dave Hannasch, Louie Overmohle, and Jim Riesberg. Casket Bearers will be: Dennis Berger, Tom Berger, Bob Berger, David Klocke, Matt Starman, and Mike Starman. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 p.m. on Friday where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Leon was born on September 14, 1947 in Carroll, Iowa, the son of John H. and Louise (Haverman) Starman. He attended Holy Angels School and later graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1965. Following his schooling, Leon served for a brief time with the Army Reserves. For his entire working career Leon was employed with Renze Seeds and also assisted Jim and Rich Pudenz with their farming operations. An avid outdoorsman, Leon loved fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling. Leon was a gifted woodworker and also enjoyed playing softball in his younger years. He loved spending time with his family and socializing with his many friends. Leon was a member of Holy Angels Church in Roselle.
Leon is survived by his siblings: LaVonne (Ed) Berger of Lidderdale, Roman Starman of Roselle, Gerald (Jealeen) Starman of Roselle, James (Carol) Starman of Halbur and Pat (Larry) Klocke of Audubon; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and many friends.
His parents, John and Louise Starman, preceded him in death.
