Louis Clarence Hahn, age 90, of Churdan, IA, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by his family.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Churdan with Fr. Merlin Schrad as Celebrant. Music for the Mass will be by the St. Columbkille Choir. Gift bearers grandsons: Grant, Jacob, and Ben Taubman. Casket bearers will be nephews. Burial will be in the Holy Angels Cemetery in Roselle at 2 P.M. on Tuesday.
Visitation will be held at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Churdan from 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday prior to the Mass with a luncheon to follow Mass in the parish hall.

Louis was born on February 16, 1933 on his family’s farm near Roselle, IA, and he was the son Jacob and Sophia (Roth) Hahn. He grew up on the farm and graduated from Carroll High School in 1951. He worked on the farm until he was drafted into the United States Army and served two years. Following his military service he returned to Roselle to work on the farm. He later worked for Lange’s Dairy. Louis was married to Linda Lappe on January 16, 1960. The couple made their home in Carroll where they raised their three children. Louis continued to work for Lange’s Dairy which later became Anderson Erickson Dairy and he retired in 1990. Louis farmed for eight years in retirement. Louis and Linda moved to Churdan in 2001 where they built a new home on their farm. Louis enjoyed golf, fishing, taking care of his farm, and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed trips to the casino and playing Black Jack.
Louis is survived by his wife Linda of 63 years of Churdan; his three children and their families: son David Hahn (Bethany) of Sioux City, IA, daughter Diane Willison (Jeff) of Humboldt, IA, and Karen Taubman (Eric) of River Forest, IL; seven grandchildren: Jesse Willison (Christine Hardgrove), Caitlyn Blocker (Patrick), Grant Taubman (Jade), Jacob Taubman, Ben Taubman, Emily Hahn, and Morgan Hahn; a sister Ruth Klocke of Hayfield, MN; a brother-in-law Clarence Lappe (Donna) of Dow City, IA; two sisters-in-law Lois Schroeder of Colorado and Jane Pagel of Denison, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Sophia Hahn; his father and mother-in-law Clarence and Grace Lappe; a sister Bernice Sporrer (Ray); and four brothers: Norbert Hahn (Marie), Joe Hahn (Josephine), Lawrence (Melvina), and Ray Hahn; and a brother-in-law James Lappe (Marie).
