Mary Ann Neppl, 90 of Carroll and formerly of Halbur, died Sunday, July 31, 2022, at her residence in Carroll.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2022, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur. The Celebrant will be Fr. Terry Roder. Music will be by Julie Sibbel and the St. Augustine Choir. Gift Bearers will be Cade Snyder, Bradyn Snyder, and Erin Neppl. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:15 a.m., prior to the Funeral Mass at the church.

The daughter of Frank and Marie (Reck) Stark, Mary Ann was born on June 26, 1932, in Carroll, Iowa. She was baptized at St. Joseph’s Church in Carroll by Msgr. P.T. Lynch, attended St. Joseph’s grade school and later graduated from St. Angela’s Academy in 1950. Following her formal education, Mary Ann was employed at the Carroll Public Library for 3 years. She then was employed as a bookkeeper for Joe P. Frank Plumbing & Heating until she was united in marriage to Lawrence Neppl on February 14, 1955. Mary Ann was a bookkeeper for Lawrence Neppl Trucking until his death in 1982. In her later years, Mary Ann served sample food at Hy-Vee in Carroll where she loved socializing with the patrons. She enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, reading and sewing. Mary Ann was a longtime member of St. Augustine Parish, and Parish Ladies Guild.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter Jane Snyder and friend Rick Anthofer of Breda, son, Pat Neppl and wife Kim of Ankeny, and daughter, Jeanne Reser and husband Kurt of Cypress, Texas; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; as well as other extended relatives.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lawrence Neppl; her daughter, Anne Marie Neppl; her sisters: Sr. Bernyne (Myra) Stark, and Norma (Frank) Pietig; her nephew, Don Pietig; and her parent’s in law, Albert and Anna Neppl and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Alice Eischeid.
