Norma J. Berger, age 95, of Arcadia, died Friday, July 21, 2023 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Arcadia. The celebrant will be Fr. Terry Roder. Music will be by Sharon Bierl and the St. John’s Choir. Lector and Eucharistic Minister will be Pat Vogl. Casket Bearers will be Norma’s family. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Arcadia.
Visitation will be held from 9-9:45 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Church in Arcadia.

Norma J. Berger, the youngest of eight children born to Peter and Mayme (Hugeback) Schmitz, was born on August 27, 1927 in Arcadia, Iowa. She grew up in Arcadia and attended St. John’s School.
On December 28, 1948, Norma was united in marriage to Howard Berger. They moved to Omaha, and shortly after, they adopted their children Mary Anne, and Douglas. Norma was a devoted homemaker while Howard’s career had them located in New Jersey, Europe, and Detroit, before retiring in Carroll.
Norma enjoyed entertaining and traveling the country. Her family was everything to her, and a good game of Yahtzee with Mary Anne was a highlight.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Mary Anne Berger of Carroll; daughter-in-law: Jalene Berger; her grandchildren: Alder, Sarah, Adrian, and Aaron; great-grandchildren: Runa, Hazel, Arabella, and Douglas; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband Howard; her son, Douglas; her siblings: Florentine (Leonard) Rupiper, Agnes (Leonard) Rupiper, Lawrence (Florence) Schmitz, Marie (Albert) Speyer, Lewis (Bonnie) Schmitz, Leo (Alice) Schmitz, Bertilla “Tootie” (Leon) Andersen; her brother-in-law, Jerry Berger; and sister-in-law, Shirley Berger.
