Ruth Andersen, 93 of Carroll and formerly of Arcadia, died Thursday, June 9, 2022 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Ruth was born on July 15, 1928 on the family farm north of Breda, Iowa to Edmund and Emma (Steinkamp) Wolterman. She attended Wall Lake School and graduated with the class of 1946. Ruth met Darrell Anderson at the 5 Mile House and they were married November 25, 1947 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wall Lake.
Ruth, in prior years, was a volunteer at the New Hope Village Thrift Shope and enjoyed going to the casinos and bowling. Ruth and Darrell enjoyed many trips to Minnesota and Canada to fish with friends and wintering in Arizona. She was a member of St. John’s Parish in Arcadia, St. John’s Guild, and also a past officer. Ruth thoroughly enjoyed working for 30 plus years at Westside State Savings Bank while making their home south of Westside, farming most of their married life.
She so enjoyed the visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren while living at Orchard View before moving to St. Anthony Nursing Home in April of 2022.
Ruth is survived by her 3 children: Scott Andersen (Linda Renze), Gail (John) Bamsey and Barry (Cathy) Andersen; her grandchildren, Brandon (Erin) Mengwasser, Chase (Stacy) Andersen, Heather (Scott) Frank; 9 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Darrell; her parents Ed and Emma Wolterman; her parent’s in-law, Gus and Annie Andersen.
She was laid to rest with a private family graveside burial. A Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, June 26, at the Arcadia Legion Hall from 11-1. Please RSVP to 402-490-4797 if you are able to join us.
