Sacred Heart Street Dance Postponed to 2021
It is with great regret that we have to announce that we will not be having the annual Sacred Heart Parish Street Dance on July 3rd due to the coronavirus pandemic. We have remained hopeful as long as we could and apologize for the late announcement, but we do not feel that we can ensure the safety of the workers and attendees. June 19 (Friday) is our parish’s feast day, so we commend our prayers to the Sacred Heart of Jesus that we will be back on “our date” of July 3rd in 2021!
Although we are not having the full street dance this year, we are doing the raffle that is always part of our annual celebration. Tickets are now on sale and available from Sacred Heart parishioners and can also be purchased at Templeton Savings Bank. We have over 40 great cash and other prizes donated by generous local businesses and individuals. The drawing will still be held on Friday, July 3rd, and winners will be contacted directly and posted on the Sacred Heart Facebook page.
As our parishioners know, the Street Dance is our main annual fundraiser. To help make up for this unprecedented cancellation, we are asking parish members to donate $50 per family to help offset the loss. Funds can be mailed to the parish office or dropped off at Templeton Savings Bank. Please note “Street Dance Donation” on your check or envelope for bookkeeping purposes.
On a brighter note, the Templeton Community Fire Department will put on their wonderful fireworks display at dusk on July 3rd in the usual location south of the Templeton Ball Park. Even though we can’t gather for food, drinks, games, or music we can all enjoy a great fireworks show. Viewers are asked to follow social distancing and all other Department of Health guidelines while watching the show.
Thanks to all who have worked, attended and supported our 3rd of July Street Dances the last 35 years. We will miss seeing you this summer but look forward, Lord willing, to seeing you again in 2021!
