Bruce Leiting, age 71, of Waterloo and formerly of Arcadia, died Monday, June 19, 2023 at Unity Point Health- Allen Hospital in Waterloo.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2023 at St. John Catholic Church in Arcadia. The Celebrant will be Fr. Terry Roder. Con-celebrant will be Fr. Richard Remmes. Music will be by Sharon Bierl and the St. John’s Choir. Lectors will be Stephanie Sharp and Nancy Dowell. Gift Bearers and Casket Bearers will be Bruce’s Nieces and Nephews. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9-9:45 a.m. at St. John’s Church in Arcadia.

Bruce was born on November 14, 1951 in Carroll, Iowa to Herman and Catherine (Speyer) Leiting. He grew up near Arcadia on the family farm and attended St. John’s grade school, graduating from Kuemper High School in 1969. After high school Bruce attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
In 1970, he was involved in a serious car accident. He sustained a traumatic brain injury which affected him the rest of his life. He enjoyed playing solitaire, pool, and Cherry Dr. Pepper. Bruce had a life long love of cars. In August 2005, Bruce was accepted into the brain injury program at Exceptional Persons in Waterloo, Iowa.
Bruce is survived by his siblings: Jeaneane Nasby (Wilbur Brewer) of Tennessee, Roselyn Winker of Minnesota, Laurete (Bill) McGehee of Texas, Glen Leiting (Michele) of Westside, Eileen Sporrer of Manning, Annette Quinlan of Minnesota, Joan Hillhouse (Hank) of Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marilyn Kramer, brother, Rev. Robert Leiting, Brother-in-laws: Ken Winker, William Kramer, Dave Quinlan, and Tom Sporrer.
