As you know, Hurricane Harvey struck the Texas gulf coast last week causing severe damage. The storm continued to linger in the area, bringing unprecedented rainfall and flooding to many places, most especially Houston (where Cardinal DiNardo, our former Bishop, now serves).
Our diocese will be participating in the national efforts to respond to this natural disaster. Therefore, the thirteen parishes of the Carroll County cluster will be taking up a
special collection next weekend, September 9-10, to help care for those made homeless, and to help begin rebuilding efforts. Our participation in this campaign will be done through Catholic Charities USA. (We ask that you please make checks out to your local parish with a note that it is for “Hurricane Relief" so that the parish can send one check to the diocese to be forwarded to Catholic Charities.) Thank you for any support that you are able to provide. Please continue to keep the people of the Gulf Coast in your prayers during the recovery process.
