Mass of Christian Burial for 89-year-old Donald Kalkhoff of Manning will be held on Monday, November 30, 2020, at 1:00 PM, at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton. Burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Templeton. Friends may call at the Church from 12:30 until the time of Mass. Don died Thursday, November 26, 2020, at Manning Senior Living.
Donald, son of Edward and Mary (Fangman) Kalkhoff was born June 1, 1931, in Templeton, Iowa. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School, in Templeton. Don was a member of the Armed Forces Heavy Artillery during the Korean War and was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone.
On April 14, 1953, Don was united in marriage with Leana Klocke at St. Joseph's Church in Dedham. They lived their entire life and farmed west of Templeton on Don's boyhood farm place. Don and Leana were faithful members of Sacred Heart Parish in Templeton. They enjoyed keeping a manicured lawn.
Don and Leana lived west of Templeton until 2016 when they moved to Char Mac Assisted Living (now called Manning Senior Living) in Manning. Leana died on June 2, 2020.
On Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2020, Don passed away at Manning Senior Living in Manning.
Don is survived by his sister Marlene Gross of Cedar Rapids; in-laws Kathleen Irlmeier of Audubon; Carol (Eugene) Hoffman of Carroll, in-laws; Lorraine Klocke of Carroll, and many, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Leana Kalkhoff; parents, Edward and Mary Kalkhoff; brother, Floyd (Pat) Kalkhoff; in-laws: Jeanette Klocke in infancy. Evangeline (Cecil) Cox, Elaine (Clarence "Doc") Sporrer, Luella (Bernard) Klein, Leona (George) Erps, Joseph Klocke, Louis (Mary) Klocke, Harry Klocke, Bernard Gross and other relatives.
