Ken “Beanie” Ricke, 57 of Arcadia, died early Thursday morning, September 1, 2016, at his home in Arcadia, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Arcadia. The Celebrant will be Fr. Mark Stoll. Con-Celebrants will be Fr. Richard Remmes and Fr. Brian Feller. Mass servers will be Justin Schroeder and Colin Johnson. Music will be by Sharon Bierl and the St. John’s Choir. Lector for the funeral mass will be Pat Vogl. Gift Bearers will be Matt Ricke and Jared Henkenius. Eucharistic Ministers will be: Jerome Henkenius and Ed and Deb Vogl. Casket Bearers will be: Keith Freese, Brian Freese, Brian Kraus, Tim Schmitz, Paul Schrad and Ron Gehling. The Arcadia Fire Department will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Arcadia.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4 p.m. on Monday where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be on Tuesday morning at the funeral home from 8:30 -9:30 a.m.
Born on March 9, 1959 at Carroll, Iowa, Kenneth “Beanie” was the son of Archie and Lillian (Miller) Ricke. He attended St. John School in Arcadia and later graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School. On November 27, 1992, Beanie was united in marriage to Jaynee Henkenius at St. John’s Catholic Church in Arcadia.
Beanie was employed with Arcadia Limestone, FAC Farmers CO-OP, and most recently drove truck for Hamilton’s Ready Mix. He also worked for the City of Arcadia as the maintenance supervisor for a brief time.
Beanie enjoyed fishing, trimming trees in his spare time and loved cruising around in his Dune Buggy. He was very mechanically gifted and was always willing to fix just about anything. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and especially loved grilling for his family on Sunday evenings. Beanie was a member and active with the Arcadia Fire Department for over 30 years and was also a member of St. John’s Parish in Arcadia.
Left to cherish his life is his wife Jaynee Ricke of Arcadia; his sons, Brian Ricke and Kyle Ricke, at home; his parents: Archie and Lillian Ricke of Arcadia; his parents-in-law: Jerome and Norma Henkenius; his siblings: Jim Ricke of Manning, Cindy (Joe) Fleskes of California, and Jane (Gary) Vetter of Westside; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Deanna (Connie) Schoessler of Westside, Julie (Mike) Sibbel of Halbur, Darrell (Kerry) Henkenius of Carroll, Dan (Donna) Henkenius of Arcadia, and Jim (Jodi) Henkenius of Lake City; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and many friends.
Beanie was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; his brother, John Ricke; and his niece, Chelsey Henkenius.
